IBADAN, NIGERIA — The electric atmosphere of the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba proved the difference-maker as Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) secured a crucial and hard-fought 1-0 victory over local rivals Remo Stars in their rescheduled NPFL clash today.
Known affectionately as the ‘Oluyole Warriors’, Shooting Stars turned their newly-minted home ground into an unbreachable fortress to claim bragging rights in the fiery South-West Derby.
The stadium, which recently underwent a significant facelift, was a cauldron of noise, with thousands of home fans painting the stands blue and white, their deafening support driving their team to a deserved win.
The decisive moment came in the 35th minute when the host’s star attacker, Ayodele Ismail, managed to slip past the Sky Blue Stars’ disciplined defence.
Ismail’s cool, composed finish from inside the box sent the home crowd at the Lekan Salami Stadium into raptures, the roar echoing across the city of Ibadan.
While Remo Stars, typically known for their tactical clarity and counter-attacking threat, pressed hard in the second half, they found the 3SC defence—and the intimidating spirit of their Ibadan home—too tough to crack.
Every tackle won, every clearance made, was met with a surge of energy from the stands of the Adamasingba arena, visibly frustrating the visitors.
The result solidifies Shooting Stars’ climb up the NPFL table and further establishes the Lekan Salami Stadium as one of the most difficult venues for away teams this season. For the fans, however, the victory means far more than three points; it means supremacy in one of Nigeria’s most intense football rivalries, secured on their beloved, roaring turf.
