HOUSTON DYNAMO II put on a clinical clinic at SaberCats Stadium, dismantling a helpless Portland Timbers II 5-0 to maintain their perfect start to the 2026 campaign.
In a Matchweek 3 masterclass that felt more like a training drill than a contest, the “Orange Crush” left the visitors from Oregon rooted to the spot with three goals in a devastating first-half blitz.
The floodgates opened in the 28th minute when Arthur Sousa latched onto a slick delivery from M. Arana. Sousa made no mistake, coolly slotting home to ignite the Houston faithful.
But if Portland thought they had time to catch their breath, they were dead wrong. Just two minutes later, the roles reversed in a moment of pure footballing symmetry. Sousa turned provider, feeding Arana who doubled the lead with a finish that oozed class.
The Timbers looked like they were begging for the half-time whistle, but T. Wiesner had other ideas. In the 44th minute, he ghosted onto a pass from Dohmann to make it 3-0, effectively ending the match as a contest before the oranges were even sliced.
To their credit, Portland tried to batten down the hatches in the second half, but the Dynamo’s depth proved too much.
As the clock ticked down, Houston’s bench stars wanted in on the act. Jahmani Bell added a fourth in the 86th minute, courtesy of a Rivera assist, before Vinicius Silva put the final nail in the coffin deep into stoppage time (90+4’) with a thunderous strike.
The result leaves Houston sitting pretty at the top of the Western Conference with three wins from three, while Portland head back to the Pacific Northwest with plenty of soul-searching to do.
