TEHRAN is standing on the brink of going nuclear after hardline Iranian MPs threatened to build an atomic bomb if Donald Trump orders a fresh wave of strikes.
In a chilling escalation that has sent shockwaves through the West, the Iranian parliament’s National Security spokesperson, Ebrahim Rezaei, warned that the regime is ready to flip the switch on “90 per cent enrichment”—the magic number needed for a weapons-grade warhead.
The terrifying ultimatum comes as the Middle East teeters on the edge of all-out war. President Trump, currently locked in a high-stakes game of nuclear poker with the Ayatollahs, has reportedly been weighing up “final touch” strikes to shatter Iran’s negotiating power once and for all.
Speaking from Tehran, Mr Rezaei was blunt about the regime’s path to the button. He declared: “If the US attacks us again, we will enrich uranium to the level of a nuclear bomb.”
The MP confirmed that the Iranian parliament will formally consider hiking enrichment levels to the lethal 90 per cent mark the moment any new American missiles hit Iranian soil.
For years, the world has watched nervously as Iran ticked closer to the “breakout point.” While civilian power plants only require uranium enriched to a modest 3 to 5 per cent, the jump to 90 per cent is the final, deadly hurdle for a functional nuclear weapon.
Experts warn that with Iran’s current technology, the “dash” to a bomb could now be a matter of weeks, not months.
The fresh threats follow explosive reports from Washington that Donald Trump is losing patience with what he calls “garbage” peace proposals from Tehran.
The US President, who has already launched a series of blistering strikes against Iranian targets earlier this year under “Project Freedom,” told reporters this week that the current ceasefire is on “life support.”
”We have certain targets that we wanted, and we’ve done probably 70 per cent of them,” Trump boasted on Truth Social. “But we have other targets that we could conceivably hit… Tehran will be laughing no longer.”
The war of words has already caused chaos on the global stage. Oil prices have rocketed past $104 a barrel as the Strait of Hormuz—the world’s most vital energy artery—remains a “kill zone” of drone strikes and naval blockades.
In London, the Foreign Office is monitoring the situation “with extreme concern,” as the prospect of a nuclear-armed Iran threatens to ignite a regional powderkeg.
A senior security source told The Sun: “This isn’t just posturing anymore. If Tehran goes to 90 per cent, the rules of the game change forever. We are looking at a nuclear arms race in the Middle East that nobody can win.”
The crisis has its roots in the collapse of the 2015 nuclear deal, which Trump tore up during his first term. Since his return to the White House, the “Maximum Pressure” campaign has evolved into direct military confrontation.
Earlier this year, the US and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iranian military infrastructure after Tehran’s proxies ramped up attacks across the region.
While a fragile truce was brokered in April, the peace has been punctured by “tit-for-tat” strikes in the Gulf.
Iran has always claimed its nuclear programme is for “peaceful purposes,” but today’s admission by Ebrahim Rezaei tears away that mask. By openly discussing 90 per cent enrichment, the regime has signaled it is no longer afraid to use the ultimate deterrent as a shield against American “love taps.”
As the sun sets over the Persian Gulf tonight, the world waits to see who will blink first: the “Art of the Deal” President or the Mad Mullahs of Tehran.
