ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – A non governmental organisation (NGO) Prince Tabansi Foundation, PTF, has commenced training of over 500 unemployed youths on skill acquisition in NRI, Aniocha local government of Anambra State.
The beneficiaries were drawn from six villages in Nri Kingdom, Anaocha Local Council of Anambra State. The beneficiaries would be trained for a period of six months by experts. They would also be assisted with cash and other necessary starter packs to start life.

Disclosing this to journalists recently during the commissioning of a multi million children recreational facilities donated to Nrijiofor Primary School, Nri, the foundation, Chairman, Mrs. Uju Duru- Tabansi said that the foundation wants to touch lives of the teeming unemployed youths and less privileged people and to provide children playing facilities and educational materials .
According to her, this would be the only royal pathway to immortalise their late father, Prince Reuben Tabansi. Mrs. Duru, who was represented by the eldest son of the late father, Prince Oba Ikechukwu Tabansi said that” We felt that this is a way of promoting our father’s life and tide by giving back to the society exactly what he had normally been giving to them.
” At this point, we also made provision for the training of not less than 500 youths on skill acquisition and to sponsor selected qualified persons each from a village on educational scholarship scheme to tertiary level.”
However she said that PTF had distributed educational materials like desktop computers, sewing machines, school chairs/tables for teachers, seats for pupils, among others to schools within the community.
In his remarks, the second son of late partriach, Chief Charles Tabansi said the family had installed recreational facilities due to
the love their father had for the children.
” When he was alive, he built children swing in the family compound and gave a grave warning never to close the gate or deny children accessibility to the compound to play. We still maintain that standing order till date. In the area of entrepreneurship, we have engaged the services of some resource persons to address the beneficiaries and involved experts to direct them in some rudimentary biceps of business.
” What we are looking for is to create an enabler by teaching them how to fish, so they can fish by themselves instead of waiting for white collar job that will always be a mirage.” Charles noted.
In his response, Education Secretary, Anaocha Local Council, Mr. Jolly Phonics commended Tabansi family for giving hope to the teeming jobless youths and equally supporting the educational development of the younger generation.
” The Tabansi family keeps to the social responsibility of bringing their wealth back home and this has contributed immensely to the development of education in Nri kingdom” he noted.
