ABUJA, Nigeria – The Supreme Court today suspended the February 10 deadline fixed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The apex bank fixed the deadline with approval from President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Supreme Court gave the ruling in the suit filed by Governors of the All Progressive Congress(APC), in Kaduna, Zamfara and Kogi State, seeking an extension of the deadline .

The apex bank had fixed February 10 as the deadline with another grace period of  7 days after February 10, putting the real deadline at February 17.

In the suit, the APC  governor also sought  an injunction restraining the plaintiffs among other reliefs.

The Plaintiffs, the three APC governors through their lawyers held that the ten-day extension by the Federal Government is insufficient to address the challenges bedevilling the policy.

Ruling on the matter, a seven-man panel lead by Justice John Okoro held that the order stands pending the determination of the substantive suit before the court and adjourned the matter to February 15, 2023 for hearing .

  • Why is it that it’s only APC that is asking for extension, what does Naira has to do with only APC or are they the only political party that is affected by the deadline? Or are they using naira to buy votes? Am so surprised that this governor didn’t come out when Asu went on 9month strike, neigther do they complain during the fuel scarcity, so money is the tools they want to use to win election it shows that they are self centered and all the care about is their selfish interest they are not thinking about Nigeria as a whole
