THE HAGUE – The International Court of Justice (ICJ) delivered a massive blow to Israel yesterday, tearing apart its policies in the Gaza Strip and the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
In a landmark ruling, the world’s top court declared that Israel has been BLOCKING humanitarian aid to suffering Gaza civilians, a move the court said violates its international obligations.
The ruling, which the State of Palestine immediately welcomed, concluded that the limited aid Israel has let in is completely failing to fix the “catastrophic situation” on the ground.
In a stunning accusation, the Court recalled that Israel had violated the rule banning the “use of starvation as a method of war.”
It also slammed the forcible transfer and deportations of Palestinians, demanding that those who have been evacuated must be allowed to return to their homes.
The judges piled on the pressure by utterly REJECTING Israel’s furious campaign against the UN’s aid agency, UNRWA.
Netanyahu’s government has repeatedly tried to claim the agency is compromised, but the ICJ flat-out said Israel has NOT SUBSTANTIATED its claims.
Instead, the court insisted that evidence confirms UNRWA’s “impartiality and neutrality” and stressed that the agency “can not be replaced.”
The ruling makes it crystal clear: Israel must immediately lift its unlawful ban on UNRWA and allow all other aid groups invited by Palestine to operate freely and safely.
NO SOVEREIGNTY
Further undermining Israel’s position, the Court flatly reaffirmed that Israel has NO sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.
It warned that Israel cannot just decide unilaterally who comes and goes.
The ruling comes amid claims by the State of Palestine that Israel is still using starvation as a “method of war” and “weaponizing aid” despite a recent ceasefire declaration.
Palestine is now demanding that the entire world community must step up and force Israel to implement the court’s demands to end the suffering.
