GAZA – These are definitely not the best of times for Palestinians, most especially children who are innocent of Israel’s war in Gaza, which has claimed over 31,000 lives and over 71,000 others injured.
Israel is not only killing the children in indiscriminate bombardments but killing through blockade of relief materials, including food and medicine, which has imposed severe hunger and malnutrition on the population.
Unconfirmed reports say 15 Palestinian children have died of malnutrition and starvation.
The latest is 10-year-old Yazan Sharif Al-Kafarna who died in Rafah at the Abu Youssef Al-Najjar Hospital due to malnutrition as famine.
She was weighing five kilograms when she gave up the ghost.
Yezan’s brother Mohammed spoke about Yezan:
“We were expelled from Beit Hanoun at the beginning of the war, then we took refuge in Jabaliya Camp, then in Nusayrat Camp, then in Rafah.
“The war destroyed all the basic needs of this child who suffers from many diseases. We could not find him any medicine or any food that could keep him alive.
“Yezan turned into a skeleton in this war. Hunger gnawed his body. Here is another form of death, death from hunger, lack of medicine and the successive crises!”, he said.
“Our message to the international community and the free people of the world: What are you waiting for?
“At least ensure the children’s right to life. You claim to be people of justice and equality, yet death is rampant with famine and disaster. Know that death is coming upon us not only in the form of shells and missiles, but in all its forms!”, he said.
Yezan weighed only 5kg when she died of starvation today!
Yezan’s brother Mohammed said:
