LAGOS, Nigeria – The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has attributed alleged corruption levelled  against its Presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar  as handiwork of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC  to divert attention of the imminent probe of its candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his use of Alfa Beta to corner resources of Lagos State.

Spokesman of the PDP Presidential Council, Mr. Daniel Bwala who was speaking on Arise TV said Michael Achimugu who leaked the self-revealing audio of the former Vice President is a blackmailer sponsored by the ruling APC.

He said the APC PCC was aware of a petition before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over allegations levelled against Tinubu by the former boss of Alfa Beta to commence investigation on the issue.

“We have credible evidence that he is financed by APC”, Bwala said. He said the APC has been struck with pantaphobia and that it is afraid of losing the 2023 general election as a result of series of rejection confronting the party across board, with threats by some chairmen to resign their membership of APC.

“They presented a blackmailer as a whistle blower. The complainant was not there, he also participated in the information he claimed he was sharing, which he is now revealing”, he said, wondering about the motive of Achimugu.

He said the petition of the APC PCC,  led by Festus Keyamo will fall flat in court as a result of the principal of estopel and that the case has already been investigated by the EFCC, which found nothing incriminating against Atiku.  Besides, he said no law enforcement agency will waste time on i the petition, he described as frivolous.

He said SPV is a concept in corporate governance and that they are used to manages risks. “It is not unlawful, it is not illegal unless it commits a lawless deed”, he said.

“This is in a bid to cover up an existing investigation in EFCC, submitted by former MD of Alfa Betta, where it alleged against Tinubu’s corrupt practices, it was submitted for years, they know we are going to call on EFCC to act on it. Besides, Tinubu has a conviction from Chicago, and that if he is elected, he will be subjected to blackmail. There is also a drug found in Lagos linked to Tinubu”, he alleged.

The PDP  spokes who described Tinubu as mentally unstable for uttering meaningless statements in some of his addresses said Atiku will not respond to a baseless allegation.

“Nigerian people have not asked any question, the APC has raised allegations. Atiku is not obligated to go to Chatham house. The people that will vote in Nigeria have asked questions and he has answered, let us stop this neocolonialism. I will appreciate it if these people go and engage with government of the UK”, he said.
