NORTH LONDON crumbled on Tuesday night as Newcastle United deepened the gloom over the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, leaving Thomas Frank’s side staring into the abyss of a relegation dogfight.

A clinical Jacob Ramsey winner ensured the Magpies flew home with all three points, while the Spurs faithful turned on their own with a chorus of boos that could be heard from the Seven Sisters to Tyneside.

Thiaw Takes His Chance
The Geordie invasion started with intent. Eddie Howe’s men looked sharper, hungrier, and far more organized than a Tottenham side that appeared to be playing with lead in their boots.

Newcastle thought they had the lead early when Joe Willock curled a beauty into the far corner, only for a pedantic VAR review to chalk it off for a marginal offside.
But the reprieve was short-lived. In first-half stoppage time, German giant Malick Thiaw rose highest to meet a cross.

While Guglielmo Vicario managed to parry the initial header, Thiaw reacted with the predatory instincts of a seasoned striker to prod home the rebound.

Gray Day for Spurs
Thomas Frank clearly lit a fire under his players at the interval. Spurs emerged with a pulse, and in the 64th minute, they found their leveler.

A scramble from a Xavi Simons corner saw Pape Matar Sarr nod the ball into the path of Archie Gray, who volleyed home with precision.

For four minutes, the North London air was thick with hope. It didn’t last.

The decisive blow came from a man finding his feet in black and white. Anthony Gordon, a constant thorn in the Spurs’ side, tore down the flank before spotting Jacob Ramsey’s late burst into the box. Ramsey’s first-time finish was pure class, sweeping past Vicario to restore the lead and silence the home crowd.

Despite late pressure and a missed sitter from Micky van de Ven, Newcastle held firm.

The result leaves Spurs winless in 2026 and just five points above the bottom three, with a North London derby against Arsenal looming like a dark cloud on the horizon.
