Nigeria, May 31, 2016 – Speaker of the House of Representatives has introduced electronic voting system as a means of conducting activities in the house.
The introduction now stops the usual practice of voice vote which is subject to legislative manipulation. Dogara who announced the system last Thursday said it was in compliance with the 8th Assembly Legislative Agenda.
So far forms have been distributed to all the 360 members of the house to collate their data ahead of the production of e-voting cards for members.
We gathered that the implication is that records of punctuality and voting pattern of each member can easily be accessed by those each member represents in the constituencies.
