AWKA, Anambra – The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) for the upcoming November 8 election in Anambra State, Ọzọ Jephat Ezechukwu Nweke, has acknowledged the developmental strides of the incumbent governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
However, he called on the governor to consider the persistent poverty among Awka indigenes, despite the town’s status as the state capital.
Speaking on Monday at Ekwodiaku Primary School field in Awka during a campaign rally where a large turnout of Awka youths declared their support for him, Ọzọ Nweke stated that his candidacy is driven by a mission to change the long-standing negative narrative about Awka and to uplift the broader Anambra populace.
According to him, “There is a reason why Jeff Nweke should be elected, especially by Awka indigenes. I have come into this race with clear intent, and no amount—even if I were offered $300 billion—would make me step down. I am committed to seeing this through to the very end.”
“This is not about Jeff Nweke alone—it is about all of us who have good intentions for the state. It is no secret that Awka town and its people have been neglected for too long. The only way to correct this historical oversight is to vote for the Action Alliance in the November 8 election.”
“I am not a career politician, but mark my words: if I win, within two years, Awka will become a replica of Silicon Valley. It will be so economically and technologically transformed that one might even need a visa to enter it for any socio-economic activity,”
“I’m not exaggerating if given the mandate, issues like kidnapping, ritual killings, and armed robbery will be eradicated within four months of assuming office.”
“If you believe it’s time for a radical transformation, then vote for Jeff Nweke,”.
Earlier at the rally, the convener of Otolo N’eche Obodo Awka, Chief Ikechukwu Ofomata, expressed strong confidence in Nweke’s candidacy, describing it as unprecedented in the history of Awka.
“For the first time in history, an Awka indigene is contesting the governorship of Anambra State with unmatched financial and physical commitment,”
“He has the capacity to eliminate criminality and drive meaningful change that can elevate the state to new heights.” he said .
