AWKA, Anambra – Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has described the ongoing All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) campaign as a unique people-driven movement, unlike anything previously witnessed in Anambra or elsewhere in the country.
Speaking on Monday at a campaign rally in Amawbia, within Awka South Local Government Area, Governor Soludo noted that the APGA campaign has become a grassroots revolution, with the people themselves taking ownership of the movement.
“I do not know of any other state in Nigeria where the people are literally taking over the political campaign. This is unprecedented,” he declared.
Soludo thanked the people of Awka South for their massive turnout and unwavering support for APGA, describing the event as a powerful demonstration of the people’s confidence in his administration and the party’s vision.
He highlighted key achievements of his government to include improvements in education, infrastructure, security, and human capital development, stating that his administration is committed to transforming every part of the state.
“We are developing our communities to the extent that, soon, some people may not recognize their own villages because of the scale of transformation taking place,” he said.
The Governor expressed special appreciation to the youth and students of Awka South, who voluntarily donated ₦515,000 towards the APGA campaign,a gesture he described as symbolic of genuine popular support.
He also lauded the Traditional Medicine Practitioners in the area for contributing ₦3 million to the campaign, emphasizing their role in promoting authentic indigenous practices.
“We love and respect real and genuine traditional medicine practitioners, those who heal with herbs and roots, not the dangerous ones who deceive our youth with promises of instant wealth through charms and ‘okeite’. We will not allow such harmful influences in our state,” Soludo stated.
He reiterated his administration’s resolve to crack down on fake native doctors and others promoting destructive beliefs that undermine societal values and youth development.
On the political front, Governor Soludo expressed confidence that APGA will dominate in the upcoming election, aiming to win across all polling units in the state.
“We are not in competition with any credible opposition. Yet, we are not complacent. We are campaigning vigorously—not as underdogs, but as a movement of the people. Anambra is APGA land, and we will win overwhelmingly. Our victory will be free, fair, and credible,” he affirmed.
Soludo also warned against any attempts to subvert the will of the people through electoral malpractice, stating that APGA and its supporters will remain vigilant.
“They want to rig the election, but we are ready and waiting. Anambra will not be taken backward,” he warned.
On political zoning, the Governor made a subtle but significant statement, reaffirming the rotational agreement within the state, and urging that power must shift to Anambra Central after his tenure to maintain political equity and stability.
In a personal reflection, Soludo shared that the Awka South rally was particularly memorable for him, as it marked the first time his immediate family joined him on the campaign trail ,a symbolic gesture of unity and shared purpose.
