Prompt delivery of dividend of democracy to Nigerians by government at all level has been identified as the only solution to curb the insurgent of Boko Haram and other social vices in the country.

An Islamic scholar, Alhaji (Dr) Saheed Timehin dropped this hint in his lecture at the 5th Annual Ramadan Public lecture organised by IEDPU, Eti-osa Branch at White sand, Lekki at weekend with the theme: ‘The Role of Muslims in Nations Building’.
Timehin who is also a lecturer at the Lagos State University (LASU) said until government provides Social Security, whereby the welfare of its citizenry, especially the youths and security apparatus is catered for the menace of insurgency will continue.

“A nation that failed to take care of her citizens, particularly the unemployed youths, clergies and security agents will never witness peace and instead will continue to have one crisis after another, because the youths who went to school, graduated and have no employment to take care of himself will be a victims of circumstances”, he said.

According to him, “both the Federal and State governments in the country should look inwards and notice that despite the killings of bandits by security men, their number still increase on a daily basis since criminality is still attractive”.

“If government takes good care of the welfare of security agents , there will be full commitment from that end to detect and fight diligently and if not, the situation will continue to get worst because some of the security apparatus may even become informants to the militants just for money”, he said.

While noting that security is everybody’s business, the don also implored both Islamic and Christian clergies who protect the politicians and our leaders with prayers to always be bold to mandate them to take care of the citizenry and not just collect money from them alone.

In his welcome address, the Chairman IEDPU Eti-osa branch, Alhaji Hassan Abdul Hamid Bello Agbaji urged the youths to desist from engaging themselves in bad activities and look for productive ways to earn their living, instead of allowing themselves to be used as instruments to foment trouble by politicians and unscrupulous people in the country.
