COWARDLY arsonists sparked a night of terror in North London after blowing up a fleet of Jewish ambulances in a “devastating” antisemitic hate crime.
Families were bolted from their beds in Golders Green at 1:45 AM today as oxygen canisters on board the life-saving vehicles detonated, sending fireballs into the night sky.
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed:
Four ambulances belonging to the Jewish volunteer service Hatzola were destroyed.
Thirty-four 34 residents were evacuated from their homes as the blaze tore through a synagogue car park.
Counter Terrorism cops have taken over the hunt for three hooded suspects seen dousing the vans in accelerant.
Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams, who leads policing in North West London, branded the attack a targeted strike on the Jewish community.
”CCTV footage appears to show three people in hoods pouring an accelerant onto the vehicles before igniting them and fleeing,” DCS Williams said.
While the incident has not yet been formally declared a terrorist attack, the Met’s specialist Counter Terrorism Command is leading the charge. Detectives are also scrambling to verify a chilling online claim of responsibility from a mystery group.
Despite the charred wreckage left behind on Highfield Road, the Hatzola service—which provides emergency medical cover to the local community—vowed that they remain fully operational and ready to save lives.
The attack comes at a time of “heightened fear” for London’s Jewish residents, with the religious festival of Passover just days away in early April.
DCS Williams added: “The Met Police stands shoulder to shoulder with our partners and communities. Together we take a zero-tolerance approach to hate crime.”
