September 22, 2015 – Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki was today granted bail on self-recognition by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) sitting in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Saraki had appeared before CCT following an order by the CCT authorizing his arrest for failing to appear on Friday before the tribunal.

But in a tweet on Friday, Saraki doused the tension when he said that he will make personal appearance today.

Speaking at the CCT, Saraki said he was being informed about the 13 count charges for the first time adding that he was puzzled that he was docked without being given opportunity to affirm or deny the charges, adding that the Act setting up the tribunal states that the matter shall not be brought before the tribunal if the accused confirms the accusations and that he was being charge because he emerged as President of the Senate.

He pleaded not guilty to all the 13 count charges brought against him by the Federal Government.

The matter has been adjourned till October 21, 22 and 23. He was accompanied by 50 senators including Deputy Senate President, Senator, Ike Ekweremadu to the tribubal.
