The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has applauded the sealing up of the office opened by the breakaway faction of the party, stressing that the development is in line with the injunction granted by a Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, which it said clearly affirmed Alhaji Bamanga Tukur as leader of the party.

According to PDP, in saying that party to the crisis should maintain the status quo ante bellum, the court has clearly granted the request of the PDP that the group led by Alhaji Baraje Kawu should neither operate nor be recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A statement signed by Publicity Secretary of PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, said the injunction clearly directs the Baraje group not to operate or parade themselves as leaders of the party until determination of the case.

“By the order of the court, nobody is authorised by law to open a secretariat or operate under the name, colour or flag of the PDP other than the one led by Alhaji Bamanga Tukur. The sealing off of the secretariat opened by the Baraje group under the name, colour and flag of the PDP is therefore in order and in line with the law”, Metuh said.

The party called on all members to close ranks and continue to remain steadfast to the constitution of the party, especially as it marches on to victory in the 2015 general elections. Metuh explained that reports in the media that the court did not accede to request of the party are nothing but deliberate falsehood.
