A DEPRAVED security guard who swapped his duty of protection for a “violent and cowardly” sex attack on a married nurse has been caged for life.
Emmanuel Buchi, a guard at the prestigious Green Springs School in Awoyaya, was told by a judge that he was a “pathological liar” after claiming his victim had consented to the 2021 ordeal.
An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court heard how Buchi abandoned his post on November 27, 2021, to stalk the 37-year-old nurse while she worked a lonely night shift at the school clinic.
The court heard the predator first approached the nurse asking for Vitamin C before returning minutes later to plunge the clinic into darkness.
Justice Rahman Oshodi described the “deeply troubling” violence used during the assault, stating:
“You used force and violence… pressing her hands down, grabbing her legs, and using your security shoes to stamp on her.”
The nurse was left with a black eye and internal injuries, while the brute ignored her desperate pleas to “leave me now.”
In a chilling admission under cross-examination, Buchi told the court he interpreted her cries for him to stop as “yes.”
The judge slammed Buchi for fabricating a “fairytale” defence that the nurse was his girlfriend—a claim that fell apart under police questioning.
”Instead of protecting the prosecutrix, you became her assailant,” Justice Oshodi told the dock.
“You have shown no understanding of the gravity of your action. Beyond the physical injuries, she will carry the psychological scars of that violation.”
Buchi was handed a mandatory life sentence for rape and an additional three years for assault.
His name will now be added to the Lagos State Sexual Offences Register, ensuring he is marked as a predator for the rest of his life.
