LONDON – PERVERT children’s mentor Emem Udaw has been found guilty of a string of horrific sex attacks on five vulnerable schoolgirls.
The 50-year-old monster abused his position of trust to target and assault students at Holland Park Secondary School over two decades ago.
Udaw was convicted of 14 counts of indecent assault on a girl under 16 after a three-week trial at Isleworth Crown Court yesterday.
The attacks happened between 2001 and 2004 when the victims were all in their early teens.
Udaw, of Tolworth, South London, used his one-on-one sessions to isolate the girls, encouraging them to skip lessons and even locking classroom doors.
Investigators revealed he would make sickening sexual comments, ask deeply personal questions, and then abuse the girls under the guise of “comfort.”
He repeatedly touched them in intimate areas, forced them to sit on his lap, and even kissed them.
The vile crimes only came to light in 2019 after one of the victims posted about a former employee’s inappropriate behaviour in a closed social media group.
The post triggered three women to bravely report the abuse to the Met Police in January 2020, with two more coming forward later that year.
Udaw was eventually charged last year despite repeatedly denying the claims and insisting he was just acting as a “role model.”
Detective Constable Sandy Whysall, who led the investigation, praised the incredible courage of the victims.
She said: “Udaw is a predatory offender who abused his position of trust to target vulnerable young girls during school hours.
“The victims were always at the heart of this investigation and we commend their bravery for coming forward.
“Their courage not only secured justice but will help protect others and has ensured that a dangerous individual is held accountable.”
DC Whysall added that the conviction sends a “clear message: no matter how much time has passed, we will relentlessly pursue those who commit sexual offences against children.”
Udaw will be sentenced at the same court on Thursday, January 29.
