February 7, 2015 – Former Governor of Central Bank, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was today turbaned as Emir f Kano State. He will be called Muhammad Sanusi (II) and 14th Emir of Kano.
He was presented with staff of office by the king makers of the Emirate council, thus officially marking the beginning of his reign.
Speaking at the event, the Emir promised to serve the people of Kano to the best of his ability and to uphold the traditional value of the Emirate. He promised to live inline with Islamic teaching and the fear of God.
It was a well-attended ceremony. Those in attendance include former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, Presidential Aspirant of the All Progressive Congress(APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Speaker of the House of Representative, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, Kano State Governor, Mr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, and members of the diplomatic corps.
