ABUJA, Nigeria – Arrangements are now in top gear for the maiden edition of the Samuel Okwaraji School Football Championship.
The Samuel Okwaraji Foundation and the family of late Samuel Okwaraji, who are putting it together made the revelation during a visit to the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF.
The organisers said they are putting the tournament called Samuel Okwaraji Secondary Schools Football Championship, in honour and memory of the international midfielder who collapsed and died on the turf of the National Stadium, Lagos during a FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Angola on 12th August 1989.
During the visit to the NFF Secretariat on Thursday, Secretary of the Foundation, Achonwa Chidozie, on behalf of the Chairman, Senator Osita Izunaso, presented the competition’s T-Shirt to NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON).
