Under the current law qualified foreign citizens have right to obtain Russian citizenship by working in Russia for a period of 3 years under the occupation listed in the affected registry.

But the bill which has been prepared reduces the term from 3 to 1 year and increases frequency of the registry’s updates, in order to have a more adaptive system. The bill is coming following an order issued by Russian President on June 7.
