VLADIMIR Putin’s mouthpiece has launched a stinging attack on Germany, accusing Berlin of being “obsessed with revenge” for past wartime defeats.
In a series of explosive statements, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) warned that any plan to put Western “boots on the ground” in Ukraine would be treated as an act of war.
The Kremlin’s latest outburst comes as a “Coalition of the Willing”—led by Britain and France—considers new security guarantees to shore up a potential ceasefire.
But Moscow has hit back with a chilling ultimatum of its own: Any foreign troops on Ukrainian soil are “unacceptable” and will be viewed as a “direct threat.”
In a bizarre rant, Moscow claimed Berlin’s modern-day support for Kyiv is fueled by a “maniacal” desire to settle scores from the Second World War.
A spokesperson for the MFA fumed: “Berlin’s relations with Moscow are driven by an obsession with revenge for past defeats.”
They went on to brand Germany’s attempts to set conditions for peace as “inherently absurd and doomed to failure.”
The war of words centers on the “Coalition of the Willing,” a group of nations looking to provide “security guarantees” to Ukraine. Moscow warned that these plans are a non-starter.
”The presence of foreign military in Ukraine is UNACCEPTABLE,” the MFA stated. “Any peace proposal must be examined for its acceptability to Russia and compliance with the goals of the Special Military Operation.”
The Kremlin’s warning was clear:
NO foreign military infrastructure in Ukraine.
NO ultimatums from the West.
NO peace deal without Moscow’s total approval.
Relations between Berlin and Moscow have hit rock bottom since the invasion of Ukraine. Germany, once Russia’s biggest energy customer, is now one of Kyiv’s most vocal military backers.
Russian officials have increasingly used “revanchist” rhetoric to target German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, claiming his government is trying to revive a “position of strength” that Russia will never accept.
As talks of a ceasefire swirl in the UAE this week, the Kremlin seems determined to remind the world: it’s their way, or the highway.
