MOSCOW – While many, including President Donald Trump hinted that peace between Russia and Ukraine is underway based on his telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin of Russia, it appears the contrary is the case.
This is because Russia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Sergey Lavrov has said that President Volodimir Zelenskky is an illegitimate President and therefore not willing to sign any agreement with him.
According to Lavrov election will have to be held before signing any peace deal.
The Kremlin now sees election in Ukraine as the Optimal Option to determine who in KIEV can legitimately sign the peace agreement.
It is not clear why Russia is going this way but it seems Russia wants to prevent a situation where a new President will renege on the agreement since he wasn’t the person that signed the agreement.
