As Abe’s group boycotts congresses

PORT HARCOURT, Rivers, Nigeria – Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has elected former Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Ojukaiye Flag-Amachree, as the state chairman of the party. The immediate past Vice Chairman of the party in the state, Emeka Bekee, was elected as the secretary of the APC while Chris Finebone retained his current position as publicity secretary of the APC.
The APC state congress which started as early as 6. AM, returned Cyprian Chukwu as the state legal adviser; Okpalibe Napoleon as assistant state secretary and Ime Benson as the state youth leader. All members of the state executive committee of the party in Rivers State emerged through consensus.
Meanwhile, members of the APC who are supporters of Senator Magnus Ngei Abe’s governorship ambition had addressed a news conference at Freedom House, Abe’s governorship campaign office, on Saturday, May 19, saying that they would not participate in any of congresses because of a subsisting court order restraining the party from conducting further congresses in the state.
