AWKA, Anambra – Renaissance Modern Polytechnics, Mbaukwu in Awka South Local Government of Anambra state at the weekend graduated 300 students in certificate course.
The newly dedicated polytechnics own by Anglican archdiocese of Awka was established to strengthen the nation’s technological advancement.
The polytechnics was dedicated by the primate of Anglican church Most Rev. Henry Ndukauba.
According to the acting Rector, Prof. Clifford Nwanna the polytechnics is parts of the church’s effort in training the teaming youths in skills acquisition.
Prof. Clifford Nwanna said the institution provide an opportunity for the youths to acquire skills in entrepreneurship, Information and Communication Technology ICT and others for the youngsters to be self sustaining.
According to him, the recently graduated student are trained in metal fabrication, ICT, entrepreneurship, tourism and hospitality, photography and many others that would be helpful to them to be self employed.
He said that within three months, the students trained in certificate course had started functioning effectively, baking cake and bread and some have really understood the rudiments of wealth creation.
“The students that studied in the polytechnics for three months are doing well in fine arts, photography and entrepreneurship, ICT, and others.
“If you look at the seriousness of what they are doing here ,you will agree with me that the polytechnics has a lot to offer for the future of Nigeria. We are believing in God that the institution will be hub for technological development in the country” he said.
One of the graduands Mr. Ifeanyi Edekobi who majored in photography said that he was pleased with training he had within the three months certificate course.
According to him, he can now handle any kind of camera and can also take shots, film and edit with ease unassisted.
He said ” within the three months ,I was able to take good shots. I can now do filming and video editing and others. I’am impressed by the training we had in the three months . This experience will help me in my future endeavours” he stated.
