LAGOS, Nigeria – Chairman Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law(SPIDEL), Chief Monday Ubani has called on the First Lady, Aisha Buhari to release Mallam Aminu Adamu Mohammed, a student of Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa to enable him write his examination.
Ubani who was speaking on Channels Television said that Aminu was secretly tried arraigned and sent to the Correctional Centre in Kuje, whereas the student in question is due to write his examination on Monday.
He said the First Lady in the past walked herself into the heart of the masses through her pro-masses statements and that she should not allow this to rubbish the respect members of the public have for her person by releasing Aminu as a mother.
He said it is only on this basis that Nigerians will be able to forgive her at a time that the administration is about leaving office. Ubani said those in public office must be a little tolerant since they would definitely have to be criticized.
He alluded to former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan who did not at any time order her security details to harass and brutalise and arrest any citizen even despite the volume of criticism she received while she was First Lady.
Aminu was allegedly manhandled, brutalized and arrested for tweeting in Hausa, “su mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi”, translated “ had gotten fatter by eating masses’ money”.
