Says PDP must learn to respect agreement
LAGOS, Nigeria – Member Board of Trustee of of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Professor ABC Nwosu has resigned his membership of the party and has opted to join the Labour Party, in the quest to ensure that Peter Obi emerges president of Nigeria in the February 25, 2023 general election.
In the resignation letter he personally signed, copied relevant executives of the party, the professor said he resigned as a matter of conscience and principle because of PDP’s inability to adhere to rotation provision in the party’s constitution.
In the letter dated January 12, 2023 he personally signed, the professor said.
“I hereby resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party and its Board of Trustee with effect from today, Thursday, 12th January, 2023.
“The resignation for me is a matter of conscience and principle because of the party’s inability to adhere to the rotation provision in its(PDP) constitution.
“The journey to rotational presidency between the north and south of Nigeria has been a long and arduous one and I have been involved. Nigeria and the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) must learn to keep to an agreement reached by a constituent assembly(19950; and enshrined in the Party’s constitution (1998), he said.
