WASHINGTON – The much talked about talk between President Donald Trump of the United States and his counterpart, President Vladimir Putin of Russia has taken place.
The conversation was held on phone as announced. Although details of the talks are still not available, the White House said both Presidents spoke for about one hour.
The talks are to centre on concession following the 30 day peace proposal that Trump’s men discussed with aids of President Volodimir Zelenskky of Ukraine.
Under the 30 day proposal, Ukraine is requesting silence in the air and in the sea. Putin agreed in principal but said he will give his terms. In the past, Putin had said the major cause of the war must be addressed which is the decision of Ukraine to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, NATO, a major enemy of Russia which has imposed most of the biting sanctions on Russia apart from the United States.
Putin has re-captured 95 percent of its territory that was under Ukraine control and is pressing forward to get the remaining five percent. In the meantime, Russia also has Crimea, major areas in the Kursk region which it has annexed as part of Russia.
The talks however centre on where to cede to by both Ukraine and Russia for peace to reign
