March 31, 2015 – President Goodluck Jonathan this evening congratulated Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC), General Muhammadu Buhari on his victory in the general election held on Saturday.
He equally conceded defeat and pledged to work with Buhari to achieve a very smooth transition.
According to Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar who is chairman of Peace Committee said Jonathan congratulated Buhari in a telephone call at exactly 5:15 pm in Abuja.
He said the President called Buhari to congratulate him and concede defeat. He called on Nigerians to cooperate with the President to make the transition a smooth one. He said he and his committee were planning to meet him when the President called him.
He said the President has assured him of maximum cooperation and smooth transition and reiterated that President Jonathan has said his ambition is not worth the blood of anybody.
