LAGOS, Nigeria – The Presidency has said it has nothing to do with the invitation of former Speaker of the House of Representative, Ghali Umar Na’Abba by the Department of State Services, DSS.
In a statement, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu noted that Na’Abba was invited in respect to his interview with Channels Television, during which he criticized President Muhammadu Buhari and his government.
According to him, as the Nation continues to pull together to confront this common enemy that has no regard for race, religion, language or ethnic grouping, what is needed is for citizens to engage in discourses that can help support the vision of a United Nigeria that maintains food security, secures it citizens and provide a pipeline of opportunities for the teeming youthful population.
“The Presidency distances itself from the allegations that it has anything to do with the invitation extended to Ghali Na’Abba by the Department of State Service on account of his alleged comments at President Buhari.
“As the Nation continues to pull together to confront this common enemy that has no regard for race, religion, language or ethnic grouping,..
“We once again encourage citizens to engage in discourses that can help support our vision of a United Nigeria,…
…that maintains food security, secures it citizens and provides a pipeline of opportunities to our teeming youthful population”, he said.

The DSS has in a statement on invitation of the former Speaker said “Distinguished compatriots! Please be notified that the DSS, on Friday, sent an invitation to NCFront Co-Chair and former Speaker of (the House of Representatives) Nigeria, Rt Hon. Ghali Umar Na’aba, after his very profound interview on Channels Television on Thursday, in regard to the agenda of the NCFront to bring about a new Nigeria.
“However, our leader, Ghali Umar Na’aba has decided to honour the DSS invitation and, therefore, shall be visiting the DSS Headquarters in Abuja on Monday at 12noon.
“All NCFront organs, structures and allies nationwide are, by this notice, put on the alert as eternal vigilance is the price of liberty”, the DSS said.
