Presidency of Igbo extraction will reduce tension, says NUPA

AWKA, Anambra, Nigeria – A group known as Ndigbo United Peoples Assembly NUPA has called on Nigerians to ensure that an Igboman emerges the next president of Nigeria.

The national leader of  NUPA, Prince Bartho Igwedibia made the call in Awka ,Anambra State capital on Thursday while addressing some  journalists on the  need for Nigerians to support south east to produce the next president of the country.

According to him, if an Igboman becomes the next president , it would help to reduce tension and problems facing the country.

“I am advising Nigerians to make sure that Igboman is made the president of the country. This will assist to quench most of the problems facing the country. Seventy-five  percent of  Nigerians know that since the end of the war in 1970,no igboman has been number  one citizen of the country ,yet we claimed to be a united nation, ” he said.

According to him, if the power is shifted to South-East it would reduce the tension of herders/ farmers clashes , banditry and others  in the country.

He said the South-South, South-West  have  taken their  turns and It is now the turn of the South-East to produce the first citizen of the country.

Bartho Igwedibia also said that the South-East has credible and well prepared men and women to fix the nation and urged Nigerians to entrust the  Igboman with the position.

He also advised the Igbo elites to mobilise people for on going voters cards registration and revalidation exercise  in the country for Igbo effective participation in 2023 general election.

According to him, the Igbo ethnic group is the second largest group in the country , but being marginalised due to the fact that  they cannot speak with  one voice.

Speaking on N100million nomination form for the presidential aspirants of All Progressive Congress APC, he  said that the amount shows that the party is liberalising corruption in the country.

He wondered , how somebody who wants to service his country would be forced to cough out N100 million for just expression of interest.

According to him, the amount is an indication that those in APC government are corrupt and have stolen much from the public funds.
