BAVARIA – Hundreds of German police officers searched properties across four states on Tuesday in raids targeting members of the Nigerian mafia.

Several men were detained for outstanding arrest warrants, according to police and prosecutors in Munich. The detained men are suspected of being members of a criminal organization in Germany and abroad.

Investigators seized numerous data storage devices during the operation in the states of Bavaria, Hesse, Baden-Württemberg and Hamburg.

More than 330 officers were said to have been involved in the operation on Tuesday morning.

According to reports, the investigations are primarily concerned with suspected internet fraud and money laundering.

Police and public prosecutors are set to give details of the case at a press conference on Wednesday.
