BENUE, Nigeria – Not less than nine people have been killed as suspected Fulani herdsmen today stormed Katsina Ala Local Government Area of Benue State killing and maiming residents.
Accordingn to residents, the herdsmen stormed the community before dawn and inflicted maximum injury and left many dead. Residents say scores of people were killed in the attack. But so far, police in Benue State have confirmed that only 9 people were killed in the attack.
Speaking on the attack, Benue State Governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom described the attack as unacceptable.
He said that troops have been deployed to affected area to bring the situation under control. He three people have so far been arrested and that steps are being taken to forestall escalation of the attack.
