APO VILLA, Abuja, Nigeria – In what looked like a return to the dark days of the military era, President Muhammadu Buhari is alleged to have mobilsed his security forces against the National Assembly blocking residents of President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
Pictures of the blockade surfaced on the social media this morning with allegations that it was part of plot to kick start the removal of the Saraki and Ekeremadu.
“My Apo Legislative Quarters residence is still under by men of the Nigeria Police Force and the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). They took over the entire vicinity before 6am. There is no going in or coming out. Please, note that there was no prior invitation by any of the security agencies or the EFCC. This onslaught against democracy will surely fail too”, Ekeremadu said on the social media.

Sources say, the President took the action following a gale of defection that has greated his party, the All Progressive Congress(APC) which has wittled down influence of the party to that of miniority.
Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Mr. Kola Ologbodiyan announced the development this morning on the social media when he tweeted “Breaking….. Security operatives takeover the Apo, Abuja, residence of Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu…”.
While the PDPNYF tweeted, @PDPNYF :The worst mistake is to use police to remove the senate president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria this morning, that will be democratic suicide in Africa….”,.
Aide of former president of Nigeria, Reno Omokri, tweeted @renoomokri “What is happening to @bukolasaraki is an act of tyranny by a leadership afraid of its own shadows. You cant lay seige on the nation’s number 3 citizen as if he is a common criminal just to frustrate the suspected defection of people whose defection from PDP you celebrated!
“Security operatives block Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu,’s residence in Apo, Abuja… Senate President Bukola Saraki already invited by the Police by 8am… Is this a democracy?”, he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Bukola Saraki is said to have arrived the Senate with his aides with plenary about to commence. Correspondents on the ground reported that he has refused to grant interview regarding blockage of his house this morning.
