LAGOS, Nigeria – Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi has challenged the Federal Government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to summon the political will to publish names of the highly placed Nigerians involved in oil theft and the terror group called Boko Haram.

Peter Obi who was reacting on the social media said he was struck and intrigued by the news that highly placed Nigerians were behind the menace of oil theft and Boko Haram.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Timipre Sylva   is quoted to have said that Nigeria loses 400,000 barrels of crude daily via oil theft at USD100 per barrel brings total cost to about USD7.3 billion per annum.

“I am struck and intrigued by the news report linking “highly placed” Nigerians to oil theft. Same has been the case with financing insurgency and Boko Haram”, he said and asked, “When will FGN summon the political will to publicly name such persons?

On the 2023 general election, Obi said he shares the President’s sentiment for Nigerians to resist money bag politicians who wasn’t to rig the election.

“  I share fully in the sentiments and views attributed to H.E President  @MBuhari on the need to resist ‘money bag’ politicians who plan to rig 2023 elections. Our democracy has come of age; and the people’s right to elect leaders of their choice should not be infringed upon”, he said.
