ZAMFARA, Nigeria – The governorship candidate of the Peopled Democratic Party, PDP, Mr. Dauda Lawal has defeated Bello Matawalle of the ruling All Progressive Congress, (APC) in the election to become governor-elect of Zamfara State.
Dauda Lawal polled 377, 726 votes in the governorship and state house of assembly election to defeat Matawalle, who is the sitting governor of the state. The All Progressive Congress, APC scored 311, 976 votes to push back into the second place.
Labour Party scored 573 votes, A -98, AA -108 votes, ADC 1178 votes, while ADP scored 1136 votes.
APGA scored 523 votes, BP 176, ABP 195, YPP 879, LDP 292 votes, while ZLP got 206 votes.
