LAGOS, Nigeria – Former Presidential candidate of Alliance for Democracy(AD), Chief Olu Falae has called on the electorates to ensure that they overpower vote buyers and ballot box snatchers during the Governorship and House of Assembly election scheduled for Saturday, March 9, 2019.
Olu Falae who was speaking on Star FM said the hoodlums are insulting Nigerians by snatching ballot boxes containing votes already cast and encouraged all that are present in their polling units to ensure that they overpower anybody who attempts to snatch ballot boxes and collect the ballot boxes from them.
He equally has the same advice for vote buyers, calling on the electorates to overpower vote buyers, collect the money from them and hand it over to the security forces as exhibit.
“If I am present, I will personally join in overpowering anybody that attempts to snatch ballot boxes from my unit”, he said.
According to him, those who snatch ballot boxes are committing the same offence with those who annulled the June 12, 1993 presidential election believed to have been won, by Chief MKO Abiola, which he said amounts to treasonable felony.
“What they are trying to do is to steal the will of the people, which is treason”, wondering who they are to subject the will of the people to their will.
He said that by preventing violence and ballot box snatching, peace will prevail during the election.
