TEGINA, Niger, Nigeria – Niger State- Unknown gunmen this evening kidnapped about 200 students from Salihu Tanko Nursery/ Primary and Junior Secondary School, situated at Zungeru Junction, Tegina town in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.
The students were attending Islamiya and Hadda Evening Classes on Sunday when they were kidnapped by the assailants.
According to an eye witnesses the gunmen stormed Tegina town in large number when the pupils were attending their evening classes in the school.
Reacting to the development, Chief Press Secretary to Niger State Government said the number of students kidnapped was unknown.
According to him, a number of conventional Islamia students of Tanko Salihu Islamia School Tegina, in Rafi LGA of #NigerState have been abducted.
“The number of abducted students of the Islamiyya is yet to be confirmed as the very little ones that can not go through the bush path are released”, he said, adding that two people were shot in the cause of the attack with one IDP has been confirmed dead while the other person is critically injured.
He said the State Government is still gathering detail security report on the attack so as to take necessary measures to secure the release of those abducted.
