GAZA, Palestine – The Israeli Defence Forces, IDF seems to have opened a new phase of genocide in Gaza using the guise of food distribution to injure and kill the starving people in Gaza.
Earlier today, not less than 25 Palestinians on their way to designated zone in Rafah to obtain food were shot at sporadically and killed. Many were injured.
More painful is the fact that the humanitarian aid distribution centres were organized by Israel and American agency, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, GHF as a Public Relations stunt.
Speaking on the incident, which has become a recurring phenomenon, the Gaza Media Office said the massacre is an act of genocide under Article II of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the crime of genocide.
In a press statement following the Israeli massacre against starved people in Rafah, the Government Media Office in Gaza states:
“We call on the United Nations and international institutions to take immediate action and exert all possible pressure to open the border crossings without interference or conditions from the Israeli occupation”, the office said, adding that the current aid distribution scheme is nothing but a death trap intended to gather civilians into mass killing zones.
Reacting to the killing, the Israeli Defence Forces, IDF said (Tuesday), during the movement of the crowd along the designated routes toward the aid distribution site—approximately half a kilometer from the site.
“IDF troops identified several suspects moving toward them, deviating from the designated access routes.
“The troops carried out warning fire, and after the suspects failed to retreat, additional shots were directed near a few individual suspects who advanced toward the troops”, the IDF noted.
It continued, “the IDF is aware of reports regarding casualties, and the details of the incident are being looked into”.
It said the IDF allows the American Civil Organization (GHF) to operate independently in order to enable the distribution of aid to the Gazan residents — and not to Hamas.
It added that IDF troops are not preventing the arrival of Gazan civilians to the humanitarian aid distribution sites.
“The warning shots were fired approximately half a kilometer away from the humanitarian aid distribution site toward several suspects who advanced toward the troops in such a way that posed a threat to them”.
