LONDON, UK – The British Parliament on Wednesday voted overwhelmingly in favour of efforts to criminalise Palestine Action and label it a terrorist organization.

The Palestine Action is the most visible and vocal group that has put the Palestinian issue and the ongoing genocide in Gaza on the front burner.

The draft order to amend the Terrorism Act 2000 and outlaw the group, alongside other unrelated far-right organisations, passed the Commons by 385 votes to 26.

It now goes to the House of Lords.

if passed, it could become law within days — making it a criminal offence to be a member or to “invite or recklessly express support” for the Palestine Action an unarmed civil group, while those found wanting will be liable to prison term of up to 14 years.

If House of Lords, follows the pattern, it will now fall under the category of al-Qaeda and Islamic State and others.

Addressing this ugly trend, British MP John McDonnell said what Britain is trying to do is portray Palestine Action as though they’re killers, as though they’re terrorists.”

He criticised the UK government after MPs voted to proscribe Palestine Action.

McDonnell said “an assault on civil liberties like this, maybe for a generation,” and vowed to fight against it the decision alongside others in the House of Commons.
