Long time fugitive and founder of Al-Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden, who was killed in May 2011 during a raid by U.S. special forces on his compound in Abbottabad, north of Islamabad, Pakistan, has resurrected in art works at an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Arts, New York.
The late fugitive was the subject of the painter, Amir Raza. In one of the works, the late fighter is portrayed staring at an army of shadowy figures, each carrying a machine gun.
Called “Shabash” , Raza, explained that it means good Job, stressing that the works shows Bin Laden commanding a group of armed people that have the heads of parrots. Raza specialised in painting posters for cinemas with many of his work acquired by the British Museum and Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
Other works paraded include ‘Dry Leaf’ which depicts a woman in traditional dress with the head of a parrot reading a book with guns in the background. Speaking on the works, a curator at Art Chowk in Karachi, Pakistan, said the works goes beyond terrorism. Works of Raza, a Pakistani sells from 18,000 rupees ($175) and go up to 38,000 rupees.
