Lagos, Oct 9, 2016 – A man, identified as Jeyibo Christopher has been killed in a road accident when his Range Rover jeep, with registration number LND-240CG crashed into a SCANIA container truck with registration number A24-104 at CMD by Magodo Estate in Lagos.
Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA) at the scene of the accident identified the cause to be over speeding.
“Investigation conducted by the Agency’s ERT at the scene of the incident revealed that the accident was caused as result of over speeding by the driver of the Range Rover Jeep causing it to run into the Scania container truck and got trapped in the Jeep.
“Unfortunately the driver of the range Rover jeep who has been identified as Mr Jeyibo Christopher lost his life as a result of the fatal accident”, LASEMA General Manager, Mr. Tiamiyu Muyiwa Adesina said.
He said the Agency’s ERT, Federal road safety commission, the Nigerian Police Force (Alausa division) and officials of LASTMA were responders at the scene of the incident and that the dead was extricated from the Jeep and handed over to the Police at Alausa Police Station, while the car was also towed to Alausa Police Station for further investigation.
He said the Emergency Response Team also attended to a lone accident at Bourdillon Ikoyi, where a white Hilux jeep escort with registration number SMK 687 BB with 4 mobile policemen summersaulted and veered off the road.
He said the victims escaped unhurt. “Barely about 500 metres away from the scene of the lone Hilux accident, a white Mercedes-Benz saloon car CLS 63 with registration number “63” was also involved in a lone accident. On arrival at the scene of the accident, fire flames were seen in the vehicle. The car was seen suspended on the fence of a building. No one was found in the car. The two vehicles were subsequently towed by the Agency to Ikoyi Police Station.
