TAFAWA BALEWA SQUARE – A Lagos High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos Island has convicted and sentenced ASP Drambi Vandi to death by hanging for the murder of pretty Lagos-based lawyer, Omobolanle Raheem.
Justice Ibironke Harrison sentenced the policeman {then with Ajiwe Police Station, Ajah) who in a drunken state pulled the trigger and killed the pregnant lawyer on Christmas day, while she was making a turn at Ajah bridge on her way from church service.
The pregnant Omobolanle was with her husband, a 7 year old daughter and relatives in the vehicle when the policeman opened fire on the vehicle carrying her.
Justice Harrison held that the prosecution was able to prove the case of murder against the police officer, now suspended beyond reasonable doubt.
“The court finds the defendant guilty on one count of murder. You will be hanged by the neck till you are dead”, Justice Ibironke Harrison said.
