No, I Am Still Speaker – Omirin
November 20, 2014 – Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Omirin and his deputy have been impeached. They were impeached by PDP lawmakers in the state.
Omirin was impeached while 19 lawmakers of the All Progressive Congress (APC) were in Lagos for an undisclosed assignment.
But the Ayodele Fayose Organisation said Omirin and his APC lawmakers were in Lagos, plotting Fayose’s impeachment while Ekiti people are calling for his removal.
The lawmakers thereafter elected Hon. Dele Olugbemi as the new speaker of the House.
The impeachment was however preceded by protest by Ekiti youths and market women in Ado Ekiti, calling for the impeachment of Omirin.
However, speaking from Lagos, Omirin said he remains speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly.
