IKEJA, Nigeria – A Lagos based gangster known as ‘Olori Eso’ and two cronies have been slapped with murder charges and remanded in custody after a sensational court hearing over the brutal slaying of two victims in Nigeria.

Wasiu Akinwande, who goes by the sinister nickname ‘Olori Eso’, appeared in a Lagos State High Court on Monday alongside Qudus Egbere and Sola Edun Tomiwa.

They are facing a chilling five-count charge, including conspiracy to murder and belonging to an unlawful society—the notorious ‘Eiye Confraternity’ gang.

The trio stands accused of the savage murders of Bolanle Yusuf and Yusuf Ramadan on July 31, 2024, in the Mushin area of Lagos.

Court documents reveal the victims were allegedly killed using a horrifying combination of machetes and a gun at around 11am on Moshalashi Street.

The prosecutor, A. O Azeez, told Justice Oyindamola Ogala that the state had filed an amended information against the accused on the day of the arraignment.

The defendants all pleaded NOT GUILTY to the shock charges when they were read out.

An oral request by one of the defence counsels to allow the second defendant, Qudus Egbere, to continue on administrative bail was immediately REJECTED by Justice Ogala.

The judge told the lawyer, M.D Obadeyi, to file a formal bail application instead.

The charges reference the Criminal Laws of Lagos State and the state’s tough laws prohibiting cultism.

Justice Ogala adjourned the case until January 19, 2026 for the full-blown trial to kick off.
The men will remain behind bars until that date.
