AWKA, Nigeria – Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Keves Global Leasing Limited Mr Ikenna Okafor, has called on 1,000 Anambra billionaires to raise 1 billion Dollars that would guarantee generational wealth for the state.
He appealed to other Anambra state billionaires to join him in donating $1million each to create investments in the state .
He made the call after being conferred with an honorary doctorate degree of Doctor of Entrepreneurial Innovation by Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka on Wednesday during a special convocation ceremony of the institution.
He said that Anambra is blessed with many billionaires, and they are not using their money in places where people will feel the impact.
According to him, there are many things they can do that will never be forgotten in the state.
“I want to challenge 1,000 Anambra billionaires to bring $1million each to invest in things that will bring about generational wealth for our people. Let’s not waste our money in drinking champagne alone,” he said.
Earlier, the Chancellor of the university, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, the Gbong Gwom Jos who declared open the special convocation for the award of the honorary degree commended the Vice Chancellor Prof Charles Esimone for his administration.
He also congratulated the awardees, noting that the honour by this university was a call to do even more.
” I also seize this opportunity to urge the Vice Chancellor to keep up with the admirable tempo of his administration as his tenure winds down and equally to enjoin the university community to continue to give him the commendable cooperation, “he said.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Charles Esimone in his own stated that the choice of Ikenna Okafor for the award was because of his numerous philanthropic gestures, especially in the area of education where he had supported primary, secondary and tertiary institutions with infrastructure .
