AWKA, Anambra, Nigeria – Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University  Teaching Hospital  (COOUTH) Amaku , Awka on Wednesday inducted 43 medical doctors into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

The induction took place at the premises of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka Anambra state.

Inducting the new medical doctors, the Registrar  of Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Dr. T.A.B Sanusi urged the new doctors to  abide by the ethics  of the profession.

He urged the new doctors to be of good conduct and abide by the ethics of the profession at all times. He said  the medical profession was a highly regulated and that  the council would not hesitate to sanction any person who defaults.

According to Dr. Sanusi ,the Council  reserved the rights to sanction and reprimand any of the erring person  at any time. He called on the new medical doctors to continue to   work professionally in order to protect and save guard the lives of the people.

He also  commended the mutual relationship between the Anambra state government and the university.

The Anambra State Commissioner For Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh in her speech said that Governor  Soludo’s administration was determined to positively turn around the health sector of the state. She implored  the new doctors to take their job seriously at all times and save Lives.

In his speech, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Greg Nwakoby, said that the institution  has completed the construction of Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, through Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), which is part of the requirements by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria to increase the quota given to the institution.

He  urged the new inductees to be good ambassadors of the university at all times and commended Governor Soludo for his benevolence to the University.

The Provost, College of Medicine of the University, Prof. Emmanuel Ojiyi  who spoke to news men said that they are working tirelessly to make the university one of the best in the country.

He appealed to   the inductees to be good ambassadors of the school wherever they go. The induction attracted who is who from  , the University Community and outside among include, the Registrar, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Dr. T.A.B Sanusi, the Anambra state Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, among others.
