Ojo LG Proposes N1.8billion Budget for 2014

Chairman Ojo Local Government Council Area, Lagos, Nigeria, Prince Yinka Murisiq Durosinmi, has presented a budget of N1,800,500, 000,00 for the year 2014.

Presenting the budget, the chairman stated that the budget would be geared towards achieving better productivity and operational efficiency within the system and bequeathing a legacy that will serve as reference point amongst others.

The budget, which is 8% less than that of 2013, is expected to be realized through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of N62m, Federal and State Statutory allocations would contribute N790m and N45m respectively, while allocations from Value Added Tax and other grants are expected to bring in N668.5m and N235m respectively.

“The developmental activities for the 2014 fiscal year would include among others construction of concrete foot bridges across the riverine communities, rehabilitation and re-surfacing of roads in the local government, opening up of roads at riverine areas.

“Others are reconstruction of L.A Primary School in Okolundun Riverine Area, procurement of 3,000 desks and benches for Primary Schools, provision of two speed boats for teachers’ movement, upgrading of Primary Health Care Centres at Ira, Igbede and Taffi, construction of Staff Quarters at Irewe, completion of the rehabilitation of Ojo Town Hall and the provision of more computers for effective and efficient service delivery and human capital development” he said.

While soliciting for the cooperation of the people, Durosinmi called on them to pay their taxes and levies promptly since the council has put in place a more efficient and effective system for accountability in order for them to enjoy better service delivery.
