JEDDAH – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the decision by the Benjamin Netanyahu led Israeli government to approve the establishment of 22 new settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

In a statement, the OIC said the decision is nothing but the continuation of its colonial plans, aiming to alter the geographical and demographic reality in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

The development, according to the OIC constitutes a blatant violation of international law and related United Nations resolutions, in particular the Security Council Resolution no. 2334 of 2016.

The OIC reiterated its call on the international community, in particular the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities to put an end to the crimes of aggression, displacement, colonization and famine committed by the Israeli occupation, and to support efforts to implement UN Security Council Resolution 2334.
