ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – Twelve corps members deployed to Anambra State on Wednesday threw the NYSC orientation Camp into a festive mood when they celebrated their wedlock with fanfare.

Always try to make your marriage joyful and to be happy in your marriage you must always tolerate and love each other to have happy homes

Love made in NYSC Camp

The corps members, who have found their loved ones while serving their fatherland told lovely stories of how the state’s NYSC camp provided them with the right environment, mentorship as well as the enablement for courtship that metamorphosed into marriage.

Narrating how he found his wife, Mr. Oluchukwu Davis  from Delta State  said he found his heartthrob Aghedo Blessings, who hails from Edo State  at the Delta State Polytechnic but that they parted ways after graduation. According to him, as God would have it, the NYSC Orientation Camp in Anambra reunited them, paving way for the marriage.

“We were posted outside Anambra for services divinely; we were redeployed to Anambra where we met again and continued “he said. In her own story, Blessing said that since  they departed Delta State Polytechnics she never knew, she will meet him again but “I finally met him in Anambra and got married to him”, she said with an alluring smile, adding that the way the husbands talks was the basic attraction.

According to her, the lockdown enabled them to have access to each other  very  well and subsequently accepted  to be husband and wife.

Another corps member, Mr.  Ogburie Collins from Imo state said he found his wife Nwokearu Chinyeremaka, who is also from Imo state when they boarded bus together from Anambra to their state and they introduced themselves as corps members.

“The relationship got started and we later  got married while in service”, he said.  Chinyeremaka recalled that when Ogburie told her about marriage, she was dumbfounded. “How can a corps member be talking about marriage, can he be able to take care of a family with the little stipends? And I never took him serious until he demonstrated the quality I have always wanted in a man.

”I never knew he has a quality that any woman could never resist.  I thank God that we got married. His height is one of the endearing qualities.  I had prayed to God to give me the husband  I desire.  Above all he is  a very caring and loving husband “she said.

Ohale Nkemakolam told our reporter that he met his wife Nsofor Obianuju at Onitsha park  and asked for her assistance in getting to Anambra NYSC camp and she directed him from there  they  exchanged  phone numbers. The relationship started, one thing led to the other which graduated into marriage.

Others like Eze Obinwa, Oluchi peace, Henry Nwachoko Charles Ruth, Bernard Faith Amarachi and Okafor Chukwudi  also narrated how they met each other  in service and finally settled down with  their spouses for marriage . Some said they met while doing documentations.

But the beautiful thing is that they have successful finalized their marriage rites. In a brief remark,  the state Coordinator, Mr. Kehinde Aremu commended  the state Governor, Willie Obiano, for creating a conducive environment for the huge success of the event and his commitment towards welfare of corps members in the state.

He urged parents to always pray for such privileged for their children at any given time, saying that It is always  a thing of joy for parents to see their children getting married. He commended the management of the NYSC for the wonderful and befitting celebrations organized for the wedded corps members.

According to him, the NYSC scheme has made a lot of laudable achievement since it  was created and called on Nigerians to continue to support the scheme for its many benefits .

“I prayed for you all to have joyful and loving married lives “he added.

Also speaking the Assistant Director Corps Welfare and Health Services in Anambra State, Mrs. Ify Nwafor, said it was interesting to marry and also to live happily in marriage.

“Always try to make your marriage joyful and to be happy in your marriage you must always tolerate and love each other to have happy homes,” she said

According to her, many people embark on NYSC for different reasons and one of it includes the chance to meet the love of their lives. The high point of the celebration include cutting of cakes for the couples
